New Medicare cards are being mailed out between April 2018 and April 2019. The new cards have a new Medicare Number, which is only used for your Medicare coverage. Social Security numbers will not be printed on the new cards, helping to protect you from identity theft.
To get ready, make sure the mailing address associated with your Social Security account is up to date, since your new card will be mailed to that address. If you need to update your address, contact Social Security at ssa.gov/myaccount or 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778).
